His relationship with Kurasame and Emina extends back to their school days.

Although their duties may be different and they are rarely tasked on missions together, their friendship has not been lost.

★ Kazusa’s Research

The original goal of Kazusa’s research was to create humans by his own hands. (?)
His findings do not contribute to Suzaku in any way, so his daily research is somewhat more of a hobby to him.

The technology to display memories from part of the body was discovered during the course of study, and thus it was not part of his original research.
Because the results were unstable, he needed to work quickly to implement his experiment.

However, because of this research outbreak and the immediate interest people would take in it, when violence rose over medical funding he stepped out, not wanting to be discovered.
Furthermore, he wanted to carry out research on the effects of magic and Milites weapons on the human body, and used that as the reason for his lab. ¹

Occasionally a formal request comes to him, and because his duty is to investigate the human body (whether dead or alive), it provides him with both a hobby and a profitable job.

1: Obviously with his groundbreaking discovery, if he wanted to continue his research in private he would need some sort of funding right? But then if he participated in whatever conflict arose in an attempt to receive financial aid, it would arouse suspicion as to what he would need the money for. So he stepped out, instead using researching the effects of magic and Milites weaponry on the human body as a cover-up for his true research and to gain access to his laboratory. That’s what I understood from translating his bio anyway.
