Masquerade | Psychology of Cosplay | Behind the Voice | PTG Standard Peasant Tournament

Hi everyone! I will be requesting help from all my followers. Geek Week is my pet project. And I would love to see it get off the ground this year. 

I’m Sarah, President of the Cosplay Brigade and Geek Week Committee Chair in UC Riverside. The Committee has managed to plan a week-long campus event known as Geek Week, which is for the promotion of the geek culture and will be held from April 9-12. For a couple of the events, we have Dr. Andrea Letamendi and Dante Basco as guest speakers.

Dr. Andrea Letamendi will be presenting her research on our campus in preparation for her SD Comic-Con panel. She has presented her initial findings with Dr. Robin Rosenberg at NY Comic Con 2012.

Dante Basco will be hosting a panel of how he got into the film industry and eventually, voice acting.

Currently, the Geek Week Committee has the funds to cover all material expenses with the help of UCR’s Associative Student Programming Board, but we are currently unable to cover the total of $600 which is the grand total honorarium. An honorarium is a payment made to a person for their services in a volunteer capacity or for services in which fees are not traditionally required. Essentially, it’s a gift to them.

The Committee itself is made up of student organizations on the UCR campus with limited amounts of money by themselves. However, we are still dedicated into making these events happen and are requesting your help to make this happen. 

It would mean a lot to me if you reblog or donate some money. I would love to see this through until the end. And I’ve talked to a lot of other students on campus who have heard about this event and were super excited about it. I would hate to let them all down now.

Anyone who follows me will know that Sarah is one of my best friends here on Tumblr, as well as being my twinnie and greatest support slash mentor. I’ve seen the work and effort she’s put into making this dream of hers a reality, and it’s been an inspiration for me to see how she’s grown as a leader through this project of hers.

I really want Geek Week to be a success and for her hard work to be recognised, and believe me when I say that she has put her heart into this; it’s not easy organising a campus-wide event, but amazingly she is in the process of doing just that.

So whether it’s by donation or a simple reblog to help spread the message around, I’m asking for the help of my followers. Any donation will be appreciated, so even a small amount will go a long way. I myself will be donating too, so please let’s work alongside each other to support Sarah and Geek Week 2013. ♥
